Joelle Van Sickle, ERYT 500,  began practicing Yoga in 1991 at the Iyengar Institute in NYC. A former professional modern dancer, she fell in love with Yoga as a means to both center her for performing and to help prevent injuries. Joelle teaches from a foundational belief that Yoga is meant to support us in our lives and that all 8 limbs of Yoga are equally valuable. She strives to honor the roots of Yoga and meet people where they are with caring and compassion. Joelle holds 200 and 300 hour Yoga certifications plus BFA and MFA degrees in Dance, along with continuing education in Yoga Therapy, Restorative Yoga, Chakra Yoga, Yoga Wall, and Aqua Yoga. Joelle is incredibly grateful for her trainings at both Kripalu and Yoga Mountain, as they instilled in her the value that Yoga is about a person’s experience (not just their posture) and that Yoga is truly for everybody. Joelle has been leading Yoga teacher trainings since 2011, and is inspired to share with others an accessible and inclusive approach to teaching. Always a student at heart, she continues to delve into subtle body and anatomy study, her own practice, and the traditional Yogic teachings.
